Before you do anything, please embrace your "why" and keep that why at the forefront of day.  Do you want to be a healthy Mom or Dad for your children as they grow?  Do you want to have an active lifestyle as you age?  Find your why and you will find your motivation to stick with your New Year's Resolution!

As I thought back through all my years of study as well as all the practical experience I have, I put together a list of 5 Easy Tips to help you make an easier transition to healthier you.  Common sense helps, lists help and being committed to making a small change over time is most important.  Small changes over time add up to big effects, positive effects!

1.  The first thing I suggest is to shop around the edges of the grocery store.  Fresh fruits & vegetables, lean protein found in organic chicken and fish, and minimal dairy.  Stay away from processed foods, sweets, and all those empty calorie snacks!

2.  Make and keep a list of the foods you like that are good for you!  Look at that list when shopping and dining out.  Be good to yourself and leave the junk food on the shelves of the store, not stored in the fatty bulges of your body.

3.  Think ahead!  Where are you going to be at lunch?  Plan your meal, what will
you order so you don’t sabotage all your hard work.  Do you have a protein rich snack with you to fight off the donut temptation?

4.  Be your own best friend.  Put your goals and plans for a Healthy New You ahead of
pressure from others who offer temptations to lead you back to your old habits!  Success in really in your head, so make that commitment to yourself to now so you can be ready to resist the temptations from friends and family who say things such as "one piece won't hurt".  The start of a downhill side into unhealthy you again.

5. Relax and have fun finding out what foods work with you and what things you just
have to avoid.  Don’t let food run your life!  Food is fuel and when you change your view of food you get control over food.  Try some healthy choices from my favorite "go to" company, Shaklee.

Remember, small steps over time add up to big effects!  Be your own advocate for a healthier you.  Embrace your "why" and keep that why at the forefront of day.  Do you want to be a healthy Mom or Dad for your children as they grow?  Do you want to have an active lifestyle as you age?  Find your why and you will find your motivation to stick with your New Year's Resolution!
